| Download a Trial of McAfee AntiSpyware SUMMARY: Download McAfee AntiSpyware, an application that can help prevent malware from being installed on your machine.
McAfee AntiSpyware professes to be able to remove keyloggers, hijackers, spyware, adware, and other malware from your machine. Besides scanning your system, McAfee AntiSpyware has an "Auto-Protect" system that helps prevent malware from installing and running in the first place.
Although McAfee Anti-Spyware costs money, an evaluation version is available for free on their web site. Note that these instructions are for US users; McAfee AntiSpyware may not be available for purchase or trial download from all other countries.

Click the "Home & Home Office Link". Click "Downloads". Underneath "McAfee AntiSpyware" click the "30-Day Free Trial" radio button, then "Add to Cart". You'll be taken to another website, currently Download.com. From here, click the "Download" link and save the file to disk.
Double-click the downloaded software. Follow the on-screen prompts to install McAfee AntiSpyware. After installation, McAfee AntiSpyware will run. If you run Windows XP, you'll have the option of choosing which security center to use. You will also have the opportunity to anonymously submit spyware information to McAfee to help improvethe product.
Also, after the installation, a disclaimer will appear. Be sure to read it, as it states that removing malware from your system might keep certain other software from running, such as some file sharing software that comes bundled with adware.
