Perform a Scan

SUMMARY: Performing malware scans with McAfee AntiSpyware and removing or ignoring found items.

To perform a scan from within McAfee AntiSpyware, just click the "Scan Now" button after starting the software. This will scan items including:

* The registry
* Running software
* Cookies
* Other files on your hard drive(s) - you can configure which drive(s) McAfee AntiSpyware scans

If an item or items were found:

* To view more information about a found item, click an item then the "Details" button.

* To remove an item, click an item then the "Remove" button. Follow instructions as prompted.

* To prevent a false alarm or other item you deem necessary to your machine from being found in future scans, click an item and then the "Trust" button. You'll need to confirm your decision.

* Or, you can click "Remove All" to remove all found items.

Note that before you remove items, you should read my tip on false alarms some anti-spyware software may report.
