Media Center Edition 2005

Do Not Start When a Full-Screen DOS Prompt is Visible

SUMMARY: Windows Media Center may not start correctly if a full-screen DOS prompt is onscreen.

As noted in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article, if you open a full-screen DOS prompt from a PC (pressing ALT-ENTER at the DOS prompt toggles this feature), and then press the Windows Media Center button on your remote (if applicable), the software will fail to start due to a video driver issue.

To rectify this problem, switch the DOS application back to windowed mode, then try restarting Windows Media Center. The DOS prompt uses the VGA driver to display full-screen mode and this driver is incompatible with the Media Center software.
