Change the Color of Borders Around Videos

SUMMARY: Instead of displaying black borders around videos playing in Windows Media Player 12, change the color to blue, green, or another of your choosing.

When playing a video in Windows Media Player 12, if it does not fit the entire window or screen it will be surrounded by black borders.

If you find this color boring and want to lighten up your mood with another color such as red or green, the following quick configuration does the trick:

Watching a video in Windows Media Player 12 with a blue border

1. In "Library" view, click the "Organize" button, selecting "Options".

2. The "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears. Click the "Performance tab.

3. At the bottom of the dialog box, click the "Change" button near "Video border color".

4. A "Color" dialog box appears. Choose from one of the selected colors.

Or, click the "Define Custom Colors" button, then pick a color of your choosing. Next, click the "Add to Custom Colors" button, and then select your newly-picked color.
