MSN Search - Find Recently-Updated Sites

SUMMARY: Ask MSN Search to heavily factor a webpage's modification date in the search results ranking.

If you only want the newest information when performing searches, you can tell MSN Search to show recently-updated sites at the top of your search results.

Note that this does not work 100% of the time; a site can keep its content static and change its look-and-feel, causing a site to be considered 'recent'.

To factor a site's recent update time into the search results:

(Note this tip was written on 7/13/2005, and MSN Search's interface is subject to change.)

1. Type your query into MSN Search's query box.

2. Click the "Search Builder" link below the query box.

3. Click "Results ranking".

4. Click and drag the left slider all the way up to "Updated recently".

5. Click "Search" to perform your search.

Alternatively, you can just enter your search query and add the modifier "{frsh=100}".

For example, to find the most recently-updated pages about flying cars, query:

flying car {frsh=100}
