Opera

Do Not Print Page Backgrounds

SUMMARY: Save your printer toner or ink when printing webpage documents in Opera by skipping background colors and textures.

When printing complex web pages with Opera, you may notice some pages take a little extra time to print as huge backgrounds are rendered. In some cases, web pages with black backgrounds can also cost you a little more money as toner/ink must be used to print the entire background.

If you'd rather print web pages for the information they contain and not for the graphical backgrounds, you can force Opera to stop printing these excess colors (if you are using a color printer) and graphics.

1. Click "File", selecting "Print Options".
2. Uncheck "Print Page Background".
3. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

This tip is for Opera 10.1 running on a Windows XP machine. Features, information, and screenshots for other versions / operating systems may vary.
