SUMMARY: If you browse the web on a dial-up connection, consider not viewing images to make webpages load faster with Opera 8.
If you browse the web on a slow (dial-up) Internet connection, you may want to just get to textual information and not worry with all the pretty pictures. This can make webpages load much faster, at the expense of not seeing photos or having some webpages much harder to navigate. To perform this tweak in Opera 8:
1. Select "Tools" - "Preferences".
2. When the "Preferences" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Web pages" tab.
3. Next to the "Images" pull-down, select "Cached images" to show images that have already been cached (temporarily stored) on your hard drive from previous webpage visits. Or, select "No images" to never show images (unless they are in Flash documents or other types of 'embedded objects').
4. Click "OK" to save your settings.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Opera 8 - Slow Bandwidth? Don't Load Images
