Opera 8 - Hide or Show Close Button (X) on Each Tab

SUMMARY: Toggle showing the close button on every tab in the Opera 8 web browser.

Depending on your configuration, each tab in Opera 8 may show an "X" that you can click to close the tab. If you would rather Opera 8's tabs look more like Mozilla Firefox's in that they do not have close buttons, do the following:

(Note that if Opera 8 does not have the "X"'s on each tab but you want to add them, follow the below instructions but check the desired box instead of unchecking it.)

1. Select "Tools" - "Preferences".

2. When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, click the "General" tab.

3. Uncheck (or check) "Show close button on each tab" as desired.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

There are several ways to close tabs that do not have close buttons on them:

* Right-click the tab and select "Close".

* Select the tab to close and press CTRL+W.
