Outlook 2003 Calendar and Meeting - Change the Default Reminder Time

SUMMARY: Let Outlook 2003's calendar remind you earlier before an appointment or meeting begins.

Normally, whenever you create a meeting in the Calendar or accept a meeting, Outlook 2003 reminds you a few minutes before the meeting that it is about to take place. If the default 15-minute reminder is not enough time, you can have Outlook 2003 remind you much earlier before an appointment or meeting takes place.

1. Click "Tools" and select "Options".

2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "Preferences" tab.

3. Ensure "Default Reminder" is checked.

4. Next to the "Default Reminder" checkbox should be a pull-down. Select the amount of time before a meeting or appointment that you would like to be reminded, from 0 minutes to 2 weeks before the event.

5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.

Note that changing the default reminder time may not change the reminder time of previously created appointments; those should be changed manually.
