Remove Envelope Icon When Mail Arrives

SUMMARY: Prevent the envelope icon from appearing on your Windows Taskbar whenever you receive e-mail with Outlook 2003.

Whenever new mail arrives in your Outlook 2003 Inbox, an envelope icon appears near your clock in the Windows taskbar. If you'd rather not see this envelope icon appear:

1. Click "Tools", selecting "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Preferences" tab.
3. Click "E-Mail Options".
4. When the "Advanced E-Mail Options" dialog appears, uncheck "Show an envelope icon in the notification area".
5. Click "OK" on the two dialog boxes to close.
