Outlook 2003 Security and Privacy

Clear Out Your Trash

SUMMARY: Permanently remove all items in your Outlook 2003 Deleted Items folder upon close.

To help protect your privacy and to keep your Outlook 2003 mailbox folder clean, you can have Outlook automatically empty your Deleted Items folder upon exit. Note, however, that if you accidentally delete a mail message, contact, calendar item, etc., and then quit Outlook 2003, it will be gone forever.

1. Click "Tools", selecting "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Other" tab.
3. Check "Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
