Add Frames or Borders to Make Photos Stand Out

SUMMARY: Give photographs rounded or straight borders, or choose from many decorative custom frames.

Photoscape has a wide variety of options to add decorative frames and borders to your photos. Whether you want to give a landscape image a rounded edge, make a photo of your friends appear as if they were on a filmstrip, or create a heart-shaped photograph of your special someone, Photoscape can handle the job.

1. First make a backup of your original photo.

2. Access the editor by clicking the "Editor" icon if you are at the home screen, or click the "Editor" tab.

3. Navigate your file system inside Photoscape and click on the image to edit.

4. Make sure the "Home" tab is selected.

From here you have several options:

Frame Line

Creating a frame line with a solid, black, non-rounded and mostly-transparent line, 32 thickness, with no margin.

To make a frame consisting of a line around the photo:

1. Click the "Frame Line" button.

2. From here, choose your line options; results will be applied immediately to the image:

* Color

* Thickness - in pixels, up to 32

* Inside Margin - 0 to place the lines directly on the photo borders

* Round - 0 to make the lines have a 90 degree straight edge

* Type - you can choose a solid line or a variety of dashed lines

* Opacity - as you move the slider to the left, the border line becomes more transparent

3. When done, click "OK" to save your frame line, or "Cancel" to remove it.

Rounded Border

Creating a rounded border with a background of white. The rounded border is black with a thickness of 43 and roundness of 255. To show more of the background color, margins of 60 were applied equally around the image.

To add a rounded border around the photograph:

1. Click the "Round" button.

2. Choose your options; they will be applied immediately to the photograph:

* Background Color

* Round (Pixel) - the greater the number, the more rounded the border, up to 255

* Margins - either check "Assign same margins" and next to "Margin", enter the margins around the photo, making it smaller. Or, uncheck the box and choose your margins individually.

* Thickness - Add a solid line around the photo - choose the line thickness.

* Color

Frame

Applying the Cali 07 frame to a photograph

Photoscape comes with a variety of custom frames including fading gradients, filmstrip, paperclips, rounded shadows, and antique frames. To add one to your photo:

1. Click the pull-down underneath the "Photo+Frame' button and choose your desired frame.

2. Choosing another frame replaces the old frame. If you approve of the selection and want to add multiple frames to the image, merge the frame with the photo by clicking "Photo+Frame". You can now apply more frames as desired.

When Finished

When you are done adding your frame(s), click the "Save" button to save your new photo. Note that during the editing process you can click "Undo" to back up one step, or "Undo All" to revert to the original photo.
