Find Out Where a Particular Photo is Stored on Disk or Copy the Path to the Clipboard

SUMMARY: Unsure where a particular photograph in Picasa's Library is stored on your hard drive? Finding out is easy. You can also copy the photo's path to the clipboard.

Especially while browsing through albums in Picasa, you may forget where individual photos are stored on your hard drive. For file maintenance you may need this information, and getting it is easy:

Either right-click a photo and choose "Locate on Disk", or select a photo and press Ctrl+Enter. Your operating system's file manager (i.e. Explorer for Windows) will open, and the file should be selected.

Note that if you select multiple photos in Picasa, only one file will be selected when the folder opens.

Finding the folder in Picasa that contains an album's photograph

While in an album you can right-click a photo and choose "Locate in Picasa". This shows the folder in Picasa that contains the picture, and it will be selected.

The "File" menu also has these options, though while viewing albums the "Locate on Disk" option does not appear. That is why you may prefer right-clicking a photograph.

Copying the path to the clipboard

Need to copy a photograph's path on disk to the clipboard for pasting into another application? Just right-click the photograph and choose "Copy Full Path".
