SUMMARY: When printing large presentations in PowerPoint 2003, you may wish to turn off background printing for speed.
By default, Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 prints presentations in the background, allowing you to continue to edit and view presentations as information is sent to the printer. Unfortunately this may slow down the printing process due to the computer multitasking, and also require more system resources.
When printing larger presentations, especially if a deadline is near, you may wish to temporarily turn off this feature.
1. Select "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Print" tab.
3. Underneath "Printing options", uncheck "Background printing".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to PowerPoint 2003 - Misc - Disable Background Printing for Large Presentations
