SUMMARY: Show just the horizontal ruler and hide the vertical one when editing PowerPoint 2003 presentations.
When editing Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentations, you may find it useful when arranging text boxes, pictures, and other objects to display rulers around the slides.
By default, PowerPoint displays a horizontal and vertical ruler. If you only need the horizontal ruler and wish to disable the vertical ruler, perform the following quick tweak:

1. Click "Tools" - "Options".
2. The "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears. Make sure the "View" tab is selected.
3. Underneath "Show", uncheck "Vertical ruler".
4. Click "Ok" to close the dialog box.
