Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 - Add or Remove the Paste Options Button

SUMMARY: Toggle whether the Paste Options button should appear when pasting text from other software into PowerPoint 2007.

Depending on your configuration, when you paste text from other software packages into Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, a Paste Options button may appear in the form of a clipboard icon containing a pull-down menu. Click this icon and you will be able to alter the formatting of text pasted into the presentation, for example either keeping the source formatting or pasting only the text, ignoring its formatting.

Depending on your needs, you may find this button annoying and wish to remove it. Or, this button may not appear, and you may frequently need to remove the formatting of pasted text, such as if you often paste text from Microsoft Word documents. Thus, to toggle PowerPoint's behavior:

1. Click the "Office" button.

2. When the popup appears, click "PowerPoint Options".

3. The "PowerPoint Options" dialog box appears. Select "Advanced" in the left pane.

4. In the right pane, underneath "Cut, copy, and paste", check or uncheck "Show Paste Options buttons" as desired.

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
