Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

See if Features Are Lost if a Presentation is Saved as an Older Version

SUMMARY: Find out if text and shapes cannot be edited, or other problems that may occur when saving a presentation in a file format compatible with older versions of PowerPoint.

When you attempt to save a Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 presentation in the PowerPoint 97-2003 format to make it compatible for those with older versions, PowerPoint displays problems that may be encountered if the file is saved with the older format. These include graphics and text that cannot be edited once the file is saved.

If you are working on a PowerPoint presentation and would like to test for compatibility problems without having to save the file, do the following:

1. Click the "Office" button.

2. When the popup appears, click "Prepare" - "Run Compatibility Checker".

3. The "Microsoft Office PowerPoint Compatibility Checker" dialog box appears, showing you compatibility problems along with the number of occurrences and slide(s) where the problems exist. Once you finish reviewing the information, click "OK" to close the dialog box.
