Prevent Searching for Help Content Online SUMMARY: Prevent PowerPoint 2007 from going online when you search for help.
By default, when you search for help in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and happen to be online, PowerPoint will access the Internet for updated help documents from Microsoft. This way you can get more complete, up-to-date help content.
For privacy reasons, you may wish to only display help content available on your computer and not send help queries over the Internet. If so, there are a couple of ways of disabling this feature:
Via the Help Application
1. Press F1 to access the help.
2. At the bottom-right of the "PowerPoint Help" window, click on the button "Connected to Office Online".
3. Select "Show content only from this computer".
This changes the button to "Offline".
Via PowerPoint Options
1. Click the "Office" button.
2. When the popup appears, click "PowerPoint Options".
3. The "PowerPoint Options" dialog box appears. Select "Trust Center" in the left pane.
4. In the right pane, click the "Trust Center Settings" button.
5. A "Trust Center" dialog box appears. Click "Privacy Options" in the left pane.
6. In the right pane, uncheck "Search Microsoft Office Online for Help content when I'm connected to the Internet".
