Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 - Prevent Popup Toolbar in Slide Shows

SUMMARY: Prevent the popup toolbar from appearing at the bottom of PowerPoint presentations when moving the mouse.

Depending on your Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 configuration, when you display a slide show and move the mouse pointer, a popup toolbar may appear at the bottom-left of the presentation. This lets you navigate forwards and backwards through the presentation without using the keyboard. Plus, you can add ink annotations or bring up the right-click popup menu.

In some circumstances this toolbar may be appreciated. However, this toolbar may greatly contrast from darker presentation backgrounds, and can make the presentation look less than professional, especially if the mouse movement to access this toolbar was unintentional. Thus, it can be disabled.

1. Click the "Office" button.

2. When the popup appears, click "PowerPoint Options".

3. The "PowerPoint Options" dialog box appears. Select "Advanced" in the left pane.

4. Underneath "Slide Show", uncheck "Show popup toolbar".

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
