SUMMARY: Customize or remove the ScreenTips that appear when hovering over the Ribbon and other screen elements in PowerPoint 2007.
When you hover your mouse pointer over screen elements inside Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 such as options in the Ribbon, ScreenTips appear that mention the function of the desired object. Many also include descriptions of the function, and some even show examples.
If you are new to PowerPoint 2007 or have not tried all of its features yet, you may find these useful. Otherwise you may not need all the help ScreenTips provide. You can turn off the full descriptions, showing just the function name, for example "Underline (Ctrl + U)" instead of the seemingly repetitive "Underline (Ctrl + U) Underline the selected text". Or you can turn these off completely.
1. Click the "Office" button.
2. When the popup appears, click "PowerPoint Options".
3. The "PowerPoint Options" dialog box appears. Make sure "Popular" is selected in the left pane.
4. Underneath "Top options for working with PowerPoint", click the pull-down next to "ScreenTip style" and choose one of the following options:
* Show feature descriptions in ScreenTips (shows everything)
* Don't show feature descriptions in ScreenTips (shows the function name, nothing more)
* Don't show ScreenTips (if you find ScreenTips annoying select this option)
Disabling ScreenTips in PowerPoint 2007
5. Click "OK" on the dialog box to close it.
