Slide Show Graphics, Video, and Animations Display Slow or Poorly

SUMMARY: Adjust performance options when displaying slide shows in PowerPoint 2007.

If you are having difficulty displaying a Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 slide show, either due to the graphics, video, and animation displaying slowly, poorly, or not at all, here are a couple of options you can try changing:

1. Click the "Slide Show" tab in the Ribbon.

2. In the "Set Up" section, click the "Set Up Slide Show" button.

3. The "Set Up Show" dialog box appears. Look underneath the "Performance" section. If graphics and video display slowly, try checking "Use hardware graphics acceleration". If you later see errors in the graphics display, go back and uncheck this box.

4. Next to "Slide show resolution", click the pull-down and use a smaller resolution, noting that this may result in a loss of detail in bitmap (non-vector) images, as well as some video. This option can also be adjusted in the "Monitors" section in the Ribbon, clicking the pull-down next to "Resolution".
