The Text, It Glows!

SUMMARY: Make text glow in a PowerPoint 2010 presentation in a variety of colors and sizes.

Still looking for more ways to make text stand out in an otherwise-drab Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 presentation? How about making it glow?

With a few clicks you can make text appear to glow in a variety of predefined colors or sizes. Or, go one step further and tweak to your heart's content by adjusting the glow color, size, and transparency.

1. Select the text you wish to glow.

2. The "Format (Drawing Tools)" tab in the Ribbon should appear. Click it.

3. In the "WordArt Styles" section, click the "Text Effects" button / pull-down.

4. Select "Glow" from the pop-up menu.

5. Choose from a variety of premade glow effects.

To remove glowing text, repeat the above steps but select the letter "A" underneath "No Glow".

Applying the "Glow" effect in PowerPoint 2010

If you don't like the predefined colors, from the above pop-up menu select the "More Glow Colors" menu item to choose from more colors, and you can even click "More Colors" to choose from any color you desire.

More dedicated tweakers may wish to select the "Glow Options" menu item. This opens the "Format Text Effects" dialog box, and from here you can customize:

* Glow color (choose from presets or click the "More Colors" menu item to choose any color)

* Glow size (from 0 to 150 pt)

* Glow transparency (100% is an invisible glow (transparent), 0% is completely opaque - you'll probably want to settle for somewhere in the middle)

Click the "Close" button on the dialog box when you are done tweaking the Glow effect.
