PowerPoint 2003 - Misc - Remove the PowerPoint 2003 Startup Task Pane

SUMMARY: Open PowerPoint 2003 with a clean slate - without the Startup Task Pane.

When you start PowerPoint 2003 without opening a presentation, a "Getting Started" task pane appears in the right side of PowerPoint. This provides options to open recently accessed files, create a new presentation, or connect to the web for retrieving news, updates, and other PowerPoint information. Many people find this pane convenient, but others find it annoying. To remove the Startup Task Pane:

1. Click "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "View" tab.
3. Underneath "Show", uncheck "Startup Task Pane".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
