PowerPoint 2003 - Misc
Add More Levels of Undo
SUMMARY: Allow PowerPoint 2003 to undo up to the last 150 operations.
If you make a mistake while editing a Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentation or feel that a change is just not right, you can usually undo the change by selecting "Edit" - "Undo" or pressing CONTROL-Z. However, PowerPoint can only remember a limited number of changes - 20 to be exact. If you need to reverse the last 21 changes you made in a presentation, you're out of luck - you should save backup copies if you plan on making many changes you may reverse later.
...but are you really out of luck?
With this tweak, you can force PowerPoint to remember up to 150 (!) operations, allowing for many, many undos. Note that if you increase the level of remembered undos from 20 to 150, PowerPoint may eat up much more of your available memory. Thus, it may be best to remember a lesser number of undos, such as 40 or 50. However, if you have 512 MB or more of memory, feel free to experiment!
1. Select "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Edit" tab.
3. Next to "Maximum number of undos", click on the "20" and change it as desired, from 3 up to 150.
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
Note that if you started with, say, 20 levels of undo, and change the number to 30, you won't be able to immediately access 30 levels of undo. PowerPoint will only remember the extra levels after you make this change.
