PowerPoint 2003 Animations - Automatically Advance a Slide after a Few Seconds

SUMMARY: Create PowerPoint 2003 presentations that don't require the viewer to manually navigate between frames.

By default, when a Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 slideshow is playing, slides will not advance unless you manually do so. There may be times, however, where you wish a particular slide, or the entire presentation, to automatically advance after a few seconds. This way the presenter does not have to continuously click a mouse button, key, or remote control to continue the presentation.

1. Select a slide or slides to which you want to automatically transition after a given number of seconds.

2. Select "Slide Show" - "Slide Transition".

3. If you wish to apply animation to a slide, read the previous MalekTips on enabling slide transitions. For the purpose of this tip, however, keep "No Transition" selected.

4. By default, underneath "Advance slide" the "On mouse click" checkbox is checked. This means that the slideshow will not advance until you click the mouse. If you wish, check "Automatically after" and select a desired number of seconds. This way the slide show will advance after n seconds whether you click the mouse or not.

5. If you did not previously select every slide but now wish every slide to automatically advance after the desired number of seconds, click the "Apply to All Slides" button.
