Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 - Toggle Showing the Slide Layout Task Pane when Showing New Slides

Depending on your Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 configuration, when you add new slides to a presentation, a "Slide Layout" task pane may appear. From here you can add a new slide based on various text, content, text and content, or miscellaneous layouts, useful if you want to add columnar text, a bar graph, or a movie into your presentation. Some find this feature useful; others would rather just always insert a blank slide with the default layout.

To change this behavior in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003:

1. Select "Tools" - "Options".

2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "View" tab.

3. Check or uncheck "Slide Layout task pane when inserting new slides" as desired.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
