Designing a Document for the Screen? Show Pixels in the Ruler
SUMMARY: If you are designing a document in Microsoft Publisher 2010 that is meant for on-screen display rather than as a hardcopy, change the ruler measurement units to pixels.
Are you designing a document in Microsoft Publisher 2010 that is meant to be displayed onscreen rather than printed?
If so, the default ruler measurement units of inches or centimeters may not make much sense. With a simple tweak, you can change Publisher 2010's on-screen rulers to show measurements in pixels.
1. Select the "File" tab in the Ribbon.
2. The Microsoft Office Backstage View appears. Click the "Options" button.
(Or instead of steps 1 and 2, press Alt + F, then the letter T.)
3. The "Publisher Options" dialog box appears. Click "Advanced" in the left pane.
4. Underneath "Display", click the pull-down next to "Show measurements in units of" and select "Pixels".
5. Click "OK" on the bottom-right of the dialog box to close it.
When you later need to design documents meant for the printer, repeat the above steps but choose "Inches", "Centimeters", "Picas", or "Points" in the pull-down as desired.
