CPU Sluggish When Playing Clips

SUMMARY: Multitask better when RealPlayer is running.

Is your CPU acting sluggish when playing multimedia clips with RealPlayer? If you are using an older computer, or if you multitask with several applications running, you may need to degrade the multimedia clip quality slightly in order to run other applications simultaneously.

1. Click "Tools" - "Preferences".

2. When the "Preferences" dialog appears, click "Hardware" in the left pane.

3. In the right pane, underneath "Playback Performance", you should notice a slider. Move the slider to the left towards "Lowest CPU usage" to force RealPlayer to use less CPU power, at the expense of multimedia sound and visual quality. You may wish to experiment with this slider instead of moving it all the way towards "Lowest CPU usage".

4. When done, click "OK" to save your settings.
