Automatically Add Items to My Library

SUMMARY: RealPlayer 10.5 can scan selected folders on your hard drive, automatically adding multimedia items found to My Library.

Although you can manually add items to the RealPlayer 10.5 library or playlists, what if you want RealPlayer 10.5 to automatically add newly-acquired media files to your library? This way you won't have to manually add every new multimedia file to make it available for playing inside RealPlayer.

1. Click "Tools" - "Preferences".

2. When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, click the "My Library" link in the left pane.

3. Check "Check Watched Folders for new clips every ___ minutes".

4. Change the "60" to have RealPlayer check for new items more or less often, as desired. Note that each check RealPlayer 10.5 performs will require some amount of CPU time and hard drive access.

5. Check or uncheck "Include commonly used media folders" to add or remove these folders to/from your watch list.

6. To add folders to your watch list, click the "Add Folder" button, navigate to the desired folder, and click "OK". Likewise, to remove folders from your watch list, click on the folder name and then the "Remove Folder" button.

7. When done, click "OK" to save your settings.

Note that importing will only occur when the "My Library" tab is opened from within RealPlayer.
