SUMMARY: Save your desktop for other applications; play your Rhapsody tunes with a miniature multimedia player that doesn't take up much of the screen.
The Rhapsody digital music service has a large window that can take up most, if not all, of your desktop space. If you want to play songs with Rhapsody and run other software, yet retain the ability to pause, stop, play, or skip through songs in your "Mixer" queue, normally this means a lot of minimizing and restoring of the Rhapsody window.
Since this can be annoying, Rhapsody comes built-in with a "mini" multimedia player you can view just by moving your mouse pointer to the top-left or top-right of the screen. This way you can keep your other software visible and in focus, yet have full access to your "Mixer" queue.
To enable this mini multimedia player, from Rhapsody:
1. Select "Tools" - "Preferences".
2. When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, click "General" in the left pane.
3. In the right pane, check "Use Mini Player".
4. Choose to have the mini player appear when you move your mouse pointer to the top-left or top-right corner of the screen. Note that if you use multiple monitors, this will resolve to the top-left corner of your primary display or the top-right corner of your secondary (or third) display.
5. When done, press "OK" to close the dialog box.
Now, move your mouse pointer to the selected corner. You can now adjust playback volume or mute the sound (click the circle on the left of the mini player); play, pause, or stop playback; or jump to the previous or next track. Your current song name and play time will scroll in the mini display (click the play time to toggle viewing play time and play time remaining).
If you wish, click on the arrow on the mini player. This changes it from one that appears when you move your cursor to the selected corner to one that takes up the top of your desktop. This way the mini player is visible at all times and doesn't require moving your mouse pointer to the cursor.
