Microsoft Publisher 2007 - Two Ways to Move a Page

Move an entire page when editing a Publisher 2007 document.

After working on a multi-page Microsoft Publisher 2007 document, you may find that a story, its related graphics, and all other objects on a page need to be moved elsewhere. Perhaps a story buried on page 5 of a newsletter suddenly has gained importance and needs to be moved to directly after the title page. Or the contents of a catalog need to be shifted around due to seasonal sales volume.

You do not need to copy and paste all objects on a page from one to another - here are two ways to move pages around:...

Read more at MalekTips.

Without opening an external image editor, adjust an image's brightness or contrast level in a Publisher 2007 document.

After inserting clip-art, a photograph, or other image in a Microsoft Publisher 2007 document, you may find that the graphic is too bright or too dark, possibly sticking out too much from the document or conversely blending in too much. This especially may be a problem if you place text on top of an image.

Don't open up your favorite image editor - adjust the graphic's brightness or contrast levels directly from Publisher 2007 via the Picture Toolbar....

Read more at MalekTips.

Microsoft Publisher 2007 - Nudge Objects Even when Editing a Text Box

Move objects slightly to the left, right, up, or down, even when editing text.

When designing layouts in Microsoft Publisher 2007, you may often need to slightly move objects to the left, right, up, or down with greater precision than what can be had by clicking and dragging with the mouse. Normally you can click an object and then press the arrow keys to slightly "nudge" it, and you can even adjust the distance of object nudging in Publisher 2007 so nudged objects move small or large distances.

However, what if you are editing a text box and decide it needs to be nudged? Clicking on the box border and then the cursor keys to nudge it may prove cumbersome....

Read more at MalekTips.

Toggle whether or not a "Getting Started with Microsoft Office Publisher 2007" screen should appear upon startup.

By default, when running Microsoft Publisher 2007 a "Getting Started with Microsoft Office Publisher 2007" screen appears. From this wizard you can select from a gallery of publication types including award certificates, greeting cards, and resumes; create blank pages in various sizes; open recent publications; and access your templates.

While many people appreciate the immediate access to publication types, more advanced users would rather start with a blank slate and design their own publication type.
Toggle whether or not hidden characters such as paragraph markers and dots representing spaces should appear when editing Publisher 2007 documents.

Depending on your configuration, special hidden characters may appear when editing Microsoft Publisher 2007 documents. These may include dots where spaces used to be between words, paragraph markers, right-pointed arrows representing tabs, left-pointed arrows representing soft returns, and other symbols / characters.

These characters may prove useful when editing textboxes to determine whether or not text is formatted in a new paragraph or separated via line breaks (soft returns). Also, these make it easier to see if extra space between words is due to full justification or an accidental extra hit of the space bar. You can also see whether or not a large group of spaces can be converted to tabs, allowing possible easier alignment editing later....

Read more at MalekTips.

Toggle whether or not a particular story should contain hyphenated text.

Text boxes in Microsoft Publisher 2007 documents may automatically contain hyphenated text, helping increase the amount of text the box can include without having to flow the text across boxes. Also, hyphenated text may prevent you from having to set up text boxes to automatically adjust text size to fit the box. Even if a story consists of multiple text boxes, hyphenated text may still be useful when creating layouts.

In some circumstances, you may have a document containing multiple stories where one should not be hyphenated. Perhaps a story contains technical jargon, driving directions, or names that look awkward when split up. Or, you may need to adjust the hyphenation zone so more or fewer words contain hyphens. Thus you can toggle hyphenation for a particular story by doing the following:...

Read more at MalekTips.

In these cases, unless you can reduce the amount of text inside the box, you may have to adjust the text formatting such as its spacing or font size to fit the text inside the box.

Instead of adjusting and readjusting text, Publisher 2007 has a feature that can automatically resize text to fit inside its box. You can force text to fit inside the current text box size or mark a text box so that whenever it is resized, the text size automatically adjusts for a best fit....

Read more at MalekTips.
