Besides the stress and confusion that can arise from navigating around a new environment, you must also take into account how much time to spend in security checkpoints. If you don't allow enough time and get to the airport late, you may find yourself stuck on the ground while your plane is already heading into the sky!

To help travelers get to airports in time and not have to wait around too long, The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has provided a website to show average and "maximum" wait times through airport security. All you have to do is select your state or territory, departing airport, day of week, and hour of day.

Note that you should use this only as guidance; depending on weather situations, special events, and other unforeseen circumstances, actual times can vary. This website just covers the time through security checkpoints and cannot anticipate travel time to the airport, parking, counter check-in, etc.
