What Software Uses a Particular Port?

SUMMARY: View a list of software packages that access assigned Internet ports.

Since not everyone on the Internet knows this information, I'll re-mention it. If you administer multiple computers connected to the Internet, or even if you have just one desktop with a firewall complaining about software trying to access a certain port, it may be useful to learn which software packages are supposed to access which ports. This can help determine whether a requested port use is valid, questionable, or a possible hack attempt or result of a spyware or other malware infestation.
