| Always Check for Updates SUMMARY: Keep Spybot Search and Destroy updated with the latest spyware and adware definition files.
New spyware, adware, and other annoying software are being written all the time. To help protect yourself against these threats, frequently run Spybot Search and Destroy and check for new updates, then rescan your system.
To check for updates:
1. Run Spybot Search and Destroy.
2. Click the "Search for Updates" button.
3. The right pane will now show "Update".
4. Click the "Search for Updates" button.
5. If updates are available, check the boxes and click "Download Updates". If you wish, click the pull-down labeled "Safer Networking" to download your updates from a mirror site, which if there is one closer to where you reside, may make update downloading quicker.
6. If there were updates, you should consider re-scanning your system by clicking the "Search & Destroy" button in the left pane and then clicking "Check for Problems".
