Spybot Search and Destroy

View and Change Browser Pages

SUMMARY: Change Internet Explorer's home and search pages using Spybot Search and Destroy.

Although you may have defined Internet Explorer's home page to your liking and have not intentionally changed your browser search page, spyware and adware may have made such unwelcome changes to your browser for you. After scanning and removing such threats with Spybot Search and Destroy, some of these changes may still remain registered in Internet Explorer 6 as possible search or start pages. To view all such registered pages and change those you don't want registered, do the following from within Spybot Search and Destroy:

1. Click "Mode", selecting "Advanced Mode".

2. Click "Settings" in the left pane.

3. Click "Resident" in the right pane.

4. A list of registered pages will appear.

5. To change a page, double-click it and enter or select a new URL. You can enter "about:blank' to remove the registered page. Repeat as desired.

Be careful removing pages starting with "http://www.microsoft.com" and/or "http://ie.search.msn.com/" as they might disable Internet Explorer's default search capability.
