Spybot Search and Destroy

Lock Internet Explorer Control Panel From Opening

SUMMARY: Help keep scripts from maliciously changing Internet Explorer 6 settings with Spybot Search and Destroy.

To help prevent against accidentally modifying Internet settings, you can have Spybot Search and Destroy lock the Internet Explorer 6 control panel from opening within Internet Explorer. This may help prevent some adware and spyware from opening this tool and making changes. Also, this may be useful when setting up an account for other users in that this helps prevent them from accidentally changing crucial settings.

1. Click "Mode", selecting "Advanced Mode".
2. Click "Tools" in the left pane.
3. Click "IE tweaks" in the right pane.
4. Check "Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)".

After making this change, you can change Internet Explorer 6's settings by opening "Internet" from within the system Control Panel.
