Spybot Search and Destroy - Scan and Fix Registry Errors

SUMMARY: Clean your Windows Registry with Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spybot Search and Destroy comes built-in with a registry scanner, allowing you to search for a small number of registry problems such as incorrect uninstall information for software, desktop shortcuts to files or programs that no longer exist, incorrect paths to applications, missing shared DLLs, and filenames in various registry keys pointing to help files that are missing. By using this tool, you can diagnose some registry problems and clean up entries that uninstall software may have missed.

NOTE: This tool modifies the Windows Registry. One mistake in modifying this file and you may not be able to boot your computer! Other potential corruption may occur. Use this feature AT YOUR OWN RISK.

1. From Spybot Search and Destroy, click "Mode", selecting "Advanced Mode".

2. Click "Tools" in the left pane.

3. Click "System Internals" in the right pane.

4. Click "Check" in the right pane.

5. If you wish, click "Export" to save the list of potential problems to a text file. This can then be e-mailed to a friend or hired computer professional for advice.

6. Or, if you note entries you want to fix, click the checkboxes note to those problems and click "Fix selected problems".
