Spy Sweeper

Change the Protected Internet Explorer Home Page

SUMMARY: After installing Spy Sweeper, you'll need to perform this tweak to change your Internet Explorer home page.

After installing Spy Sweeper, you have to perform a tweak in order to change your Internet Explorer home page. This is because Spy Sweeper automatically installs a shield protecting the page from being changed by spyware or adware (or you!). Thus, if you wish to change your current home page to another website or a blank webpage (about:blank), perform the following:

(Note that these instructions are for version 3.2. Other versions may differ.)

1. Double-click the Spy Sweeper icon in your Windows taskbar. If it is not present, you should see "Spy Sweeper" in your "Programs" or "All Programs" menu.

2. Click the "Shields" button on the left.

3. Click the "Internet Explorer" button on top.

4. Underneath "IE Home Page Shield" enter in a new home page or "about:blank". Note that if you enter "about:blank", you should say "No" if prompted to add "http://" to your home page.

5. Click the "Save" button.
