Trend Micro Anti-Spyware professes to be able to remove spyware from your system using its updated database of definitions. Besides scanning your system, the software also includes a real-time element that "monitors your PC for spyware-like tactics" so it can theoretically stop spyware and adware for which it does not currently have definition files.
Trend Micro Anti-Spyware also includes a privacy element where it can quickly remove cookies, Internet Explorer temporary files, history elements, and more.
Although Trend Micro Anti-Spyware costs money, an evaluation version is available for free on their web site. Note that as of July 16, 2005, the software is only for sale in North America.

Click the "Download Evaluation Copy" link near the middle of the page. Read and agree (if desired) to the license conditions, then click the "I Accept" radio button and the "Submit Form" button. The software should then download.
Double-click the downloaded software. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software. After the installation, Trend Micro Anti-Spyware will automatically start and perform a memory scan.
