Trend Micro Anti-Spyware

Enable or Disable Automatic Definition Updates

SUMMARY: Toggle Trend Micro Anti-Spyware's automatic retrieval of definition updates.Bookmark and Share

It is a good idea to periodically update Trend Micro Anti-Spyware's definitions as new threats are being developed all the time. You can check for new definitions manually. Or, by default, Trend Micro Anti-Spyware will perform these checks for you.

If Trend Micro Anti-Spyware is regularly not showing updated definitions, you should either perform a manual update or ensure automatic updating is configured.

On the other hand, you may not want Trend Micro Anti-Spyware performing checks for updated definitions. Perhaps you are on a dial-up connection or are just concerned about software automatically contacting the Internet.

To enable/disable this feature:

1. From Trend Micro Anti-Spyware, click the "Options" button.

2. An "Options" dialog box will appear. Click the "+" next to "General Options" to expand the tree.

3. Check or uncheck "Enable Automatic Product and Definition Update Checking" as desired.

4. Click "OK" to save your changes.
