Zip and Unzip Software

Zipeg for Macintosh and Windows with Photo Previews

SUMMARY: Zipeg allows Macintosh and Windows users to unzip a variety of archive types, previewing photos before extraction.

Zipeg is an unzip package for Macintosh and Windows computers that also supports a variety of formats including .arj, .bz2, .gz, .rar, and .tar archives.

Zipeg allows one to preview photos without extracting them from an archive; either hover the mouse pointer over a photo for a small preview, or double-click it for a larger one. Other features include extracting files via drag-and-drop, and playing sounds when archive extraction is complete (useful when processing huge archives).

Note that this software requires installing Java, a cross-platform virtual machine environment. If you do not have this installed already you will be prompted to do so. Note that in doing so you may be asked to install the Yahoo! Toolbar, so be sure to read all screens before clicking "Next" if you do not want this software.
