Windows Vista - Windows Media Center - Toggle Taskbar Notifications

SUMMARY: Toggle whether Windows Media Center should display notifications in the Windows Taskbar.

By default, Windows Media Center in Windows Vista displays notifications in the Windows Taskbar when certain tasks are performing or when it needs to notify you of warning conditions, such as:

* When you record a television show, a red circle appears in the taskbar.

* When downloading TV program guide information, a taskbar icon allows you to view the download progress.

If you do not find these notifications useful and wish to turn them off, do the following:

1. Select "Tasks" - "settings".

2. When the "settings" page appears, click "General".

3. When the "settings GENERAL" page appears, click "Startup and Window Behavior".

4. The "settings STARTUP AND WINDOW BEHAVIOR" page appears. Check or uncheck "Show taskbar notifications" as desired.

5. Click "Save" to store your settings.
