Windows Vista - Recycle Bin

Change the Recycle Bin Icons

SUMMARY: Change how the Recycle Bin appears, whether it is empty or full.

If you do not like the appearance of the Recycle Bin on your Windows Vista system, it is relatively easy to change.

1. Right-click an empty area of the Desktop and choose "Personalize".


2. The "Personalization" window appears. Underneath "Tasks" in the left pane, click "Change desktop icons".


3. The "Desktop Icon Settings" dialog box appears. Click the "Recycle Bin (full)" icon.

4. Click the "Change Icon" button.

5. A "Change Icon" dialog box appears. Double-click one of the provided icons, or click the "Browse" button to find another icon of your choosing on your system, including one you may have downloaded from the Internet.

6. Repeat for the "Recycle Bin (empty)" icon.

7 Click "OK" to close the dialog box, then close the "Personalization" window.

Note that changing the Theme may also change the Recycle Bin icons.
