SUMMARY: Add a Gadget to the Windows Vista Sidebar to view stock prices.
Curious to know how well your stocks are doing (or.. ahem.. otherwise) and would like such information directly available on the Desktop? You can add a Stocks Gadget to the Windows Vista Sidebar to display information about the stocks of your choice.
1. Right-click on the Windows Sidebar icon in the tray area of the Taskbar and choose "Add Gadgets".
2. The Gadget Gallery, a list of installed Sidebar Gadgets, appears. Double-click "Stocks".
3. A Stock Gadget should appear. Click "X" to close the Gadget Gallery.
To change the listed stocks:
Add a symbol:
1. Hover your mouse pointer over the Stocks Gadget to highlight it.
2. Click the "+" button at the bottom of the Gadget.
3. Type in the name of a company or symbol and press the search button. If a matching symbol exists, it will be added to the Gadget. If multiple matches exist, choose your desired match.
Adding a symbol to the Stocks Gadget
Once you have added stocks, you'll note that the Gadget only displays three symbols at a time.
To scroll through listed stocks
1. Hover your mouse pointer over the Stocks Gadget to highlight it.
2. Click the up or down arrows at the bottom of the Gadget to scroll.
Remove a symbol:
1. Hover your mouse pointer over the Stocks Gadget to highlight it.
2. Click the "X" button near the symbol you wish to remove.
Change the Symbol Order:
1. Hover your mouse pointer over the Stocks Gadget to highlight it.
2. Click the "+" button at the bottom of the Gadget.
3. Click and drag a stock to move it up or down in the order.
