Windows Vista - Explorer - Change Folder Picture

When displaying an icon representing a folder containing pictures, Windows Vista displays one of the folder's contained images inside the icon graphic.

If you don't like the image Vista picked for a particular folder, you can force Vista to use a different image. Also, you are not limited to images inside the particular folder; you can choose any image on your system of one of these file types:

* bmp
* dib
* fpx
* gif
* ico
* jfif
* jpe
* jpeg
* jpg
* mix
* png
* tif
* tiff
* wmf

1. Right-click the desired folder, choosing "Properties".

2. When the "Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "Customize" tab.

3. Underneath "Folder Pictures" click the "Choose File" button.

4. Now, navigate your system and choose an image, then double-click it.

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Your folder icons should now reflect the chosen image.
