This tip was printed from the MalekTips Computer and Technology Help and Tips website at http://malektips.com. Winamp 5 - Speed Up by Not Showing Metadata Except on Song Open
Normally, Winamp 5 is configured to display multimedia file metadata in its playlist whenever songs are visible. What does this mean? Instead of showing raw filenames in the playlist editor, Winamp 5 will pull out the file's song and artist name, if applicable, and display this information in the playlist instead. While this provides for a cleaner song view, it also takes time to load metadata from multiple songs. If you don't need this information displayed except for when you actually play a particular song, you can tell Winamp 5 to skip showing metadata information.
