Winamp 5 - Misc - Keep Winamp From Stealing File Associations

SUMMARY: Configure Winamp 5 so it does not try to take control over various Explorer file associations.

Normally, when Winamp 5 starts up, it will attempt to regain control over associations over various audio and video multimedia files. If you would rather Winamp 5 not perform this action, do the following:

1. Right-click on Winamp 5's title bar, choosing "Options" then "Preferences".
2. When the "Winamp Preferences" dialog box appears, click "File Types".
3. Uncheck "Restore file associations at Winamp start-up".
4. Press "Close" to close the "Winamp Preferences" dialog box.
