Winamp 5 - Misc

Allow Multiple Instances

SUMMARY: Allow Winamp 5 to show video files and play MP3s simultaneously with multiple instances.

There may be times where you want to play a video instead of using Winamp 5's visualizations when playing MP3 files. Unfortunately, Winamp is normally configured to only allow one instance of the player running. This means that you normally must use Windows Media Player to play the video, then Winamp to play the audio, or vice-versa. However, you can easily configure Winamp 5 to allow multiple instances, allowing you to play a video and audio file simultaneously.

1. Right-click on the Winamp 5 title bar.
2. Choose "Options", then "Preferences".
3. When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, click "General Preferences".
4. In the right pane, check "Allow multiple instances".
5. Click "Close" to close the dialog box.
