Winamp 5 - Visual Tweaks - Make Modern Skins Less Opaque

SUMMARY: Configure Winamp 5 so you can see through the software to windows located underneath.

Winamp 5's modern skins can be made less opaque, or more see-through, so that you can slightly see the windows located behind Winamp. While this is mainly a 'cool effect', less opaque windows can serve a purpose if you have limited screen size on your desktop. You can open up Winamp 5 on top of a window if you are monitoring the window's task. That way, both Winamp 5 and a status bar or terminal window output can be viewable.

1. Right-click on the Winamp 5 title bar, choosing "Options" - "Preferences".

2. Select "Window Settings" - "Opacity".

3. From here, choose the desired opacity. 100% is completely opaque (non see-through), and lower percentages make Winamp 5 windows more see-through.

4. If desired, check "Opaque on hover" to make Winamp 5's windows completely opaque whenever the mouse hovers over the window. This may be useful if you set the opacity level low.

5. Or, check "Opaque on Focus" to make Winamp 5's windows completely opaque whenever you click on the window. This may be useful if you set the opacity level low.

Note that certain Winamp 5 windows, such as "Winamp Preferences", will ignore opacity settings and remain completely opaque.
