Winamp 5

Control Multimedia Playback from the System Tray

SUMMARY: Add icons to your Windows Taskbar to control Winamp 5's multimedia playback.

Winamp 5 comes built in with the Nullsoft Tray Control. This lets you place icons on your Windows taskbar to skip between tracks (multimedia files, such as MP3s) in Winamp 5, play or pause the currently playing track, stop multimedia playback, or open a particular file for playback. This is one way you can control Winamp 5's multimedia playback no matter where you are in Windows.

To enable this feature:

1. Right-click on the Winamp 5 title bar, choosing "Options" - "Preferences".

2. When the "Winamp Preferences" dialog box appears, click "General Purpose" underneath "Plug-ins".

3. In the right pane, click "Nullsoft Tray Control" or a similar item (the version number may be v0.2).

4. The "Nullsoft Tray Control" dialog should appear. Place checks next to icons you want on your Windows Taskbar. As you check or uncheck items, you should see icons appearing or disappearing. The options are:

* Previous Track
* Play/Pause
* Stop
* Next Track
* Open File

5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.

6. Press "Close" to close the "Winamp Preferences" dialog box.
